Some exciting varieties of Citrus are coming into season mid-December. Cara Cara OrangesBlood Oranges and Pummelos. After that we will expect Minneola Tangelos will be available. Stem and Leaf Mandarin Oranges are looking great now.
ALERT! Strawberries continue to be tight from multiple growing regions. Pricing will be higher until at least mid-December when we expect supplies from Florida to improve. Quality has been nice.
ALERT! Raspberries will also continue to be very tight this week. Yields were less than expected from the growing region which has caused an increase in pricing.
ALERT! Green Leaf, Red Leaf and Iceberg Lettuces remain challenging with scarce supplies. Iceberg prices are extremely high. Rains and unfavorable weather in some of the growing regions have pushed the harvest dates back to later this month contributing to the already tight supply situation. Availability is improving on Romaine Lettuce and RomaineHearts from Arizona and the inter growing regions in Southern California.
ALERT! Broccoli from the desert growing region has been struggling with production due to colder weather. Expect limited availability and higher pricing for most of December. Florettes have been difficult to source with limited supplies available.
ALERT! Pricing is very high on Cantaloupes and Honeydew Melons through the month of December. Sizing is currently a little larger than normal with the smaller sizes being more limited.
Hothouse Tomatoes are on the rise this week. As we approach the holidays, demand is growing and supplies are more limited.
Pricing on field-grown Roma Tomatoes have come down this week. The markets will be steady with Mexico and Florida both harvesting. Grape Tomato pricing has also come down. Quality on new crop tomatoes is looking very nice. Slicing Tomato production has picked up, and pricing is on its way down. Quality has been excellent.
Blackberries will continue to be in good supply this upcoming week. Pricing is favorable. Blueberries are looking good from multiple import markets. Pricing will be steady. Volumes are expected to pick up after the new year.
Green Beans are in better supply with very good quality from Florida. markets have leveled off with favorable pricing.
Prices will be on the rise this week for Asparagus as the growing region experienced a hard freeze and much colder weather.
Prices are looking better this week on Cauliflower. Quality has been good.
Snow Peas are looking good this week with better availability and pricing.
Potato supplies are plentiful with good pricing. Look for good quality and sizing on the Idaho Russets, Red Potatoes and Gold Potatoes.
Select Cucumber pricing is on the move upward with less volumes available in the market. Pricing will continue to inch upwards through the end of the month. EuropeanCucumbers are steady with excellent quality.
