We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Job Title — Controller

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data;
• Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls;
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
• Leading and directing the accounting team;
• Assist and collaborate with other managers across the various departments of the organization;
• Assist and collaborate with our outside payroll and income tax firms, as well as our part-time CFO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required (CPA preferred).
• Candidates should possess at least five (5) years of progressive accounting experience with at least one (1) year in a controller or assistant controller role. Those with more seasoned experience are welcome to apply for this position.
• Prior general supervisory/management experience required.
• Position requires a very hands on approach to managing and working with the accounting department.
• Candidate must be comfortable with learning, using and educating others with new technologies. We utilize integrated software specific to our industry.
• Position reports directly to the owners of the company.

Job Title: Warehouse Manager – 3rd Shift

Department: Warehouse

Reports To: Operations Manager

DOL Status: Exempt (Salary)

Revision Date: 7/19/2018

Summary

Position oversees and manages 3rd shift warehouse operations, including staff, and quality assurance ensuring a smooth and consistent operation in an effective and efficient manner so that the company accomplishes its mission to listen, act and deliver. Leads staff through effective communication, timely responses, team building and collaboration. Produces cost savings by reducing credits, inventory waste, and staff overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of 3rd shift warehouse operations and work cooperatively with other members of the management team;
  • Route delivery trucks to meet customer delivery requirements while maximizing efficient use of fuel and driver’s time;
  • Supervise picking and loading of customer orders to ensure accuracy and efficiency;
  • Check the quality of the product being delivered to ensure customer is getting the best product;
  • Oversee inbound freight receiving operations to ensure product meets count expectations and quality specifications;
  • Maintain accurate inventory by ensuring proper rotation, labeling, and quality inspection procedures are being performed on in stock, outbound, and inbound product.
  • Supervise warehouse staff and assign daily duties and tasks, create and promote positive, respectful work environment;
  • Coach, appraise performance, and apply corrective action to all warehouse staff, as required and work cooperatively with management in the supervision of driver staff;
  • Collaborate with Distribution Manager and Inventory Manager/Purchasing Assistant to ensure outstanding customer care by staying abreast of customer requirements and expectations. Seek out information on a daily basis to effectively address concerns regarding delivery, product, and any operational issues that may impact our customers;
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding warehouse issues and concerns;
  • Collaborate with Food Safety Manager to oversee daily inspection and routine maintenance to ensure that all coolers, other warehouse facilities properly and are being maintained in a clean and orderly manner, and in accordance with company policies and procedures for food safety and security;
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies for food safety and food security;
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in accordance with company policy and procedures;
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Two to three (2-3) years supervisory/management experience, preferably within a warehouse environment;
  • Experience with ProducePro is a plus;
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and follow through coupled with the desire to exceed customers’ expectations;
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and appropriately based on business needs;
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of food safety experience, with management level experience in HACCP, USDA, or FDA preferred;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills;
  • Demonstrated, strong problem-solving skills, resolves matters quickly and appropriately;
  • Great customer service skills;
  • Knowledge and application of safe procedures and workflow in a light industrial setting;
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery properly and possess correct OSHA certifications to operate same;
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.;
  • Food service industry experience helpful;
  • Regularly work weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays) on a rotating basis;
  • Stand regularly for up to four (4) hours at a time on hard surfaces;
  • Regularly manipulate products with arms, wrists, and hands for up to four (4) hours at a time while operating machinery, organizing and packing products, keeping house, and other related tasks;
  • Work in cool areas routinely, such as refrigerated coolers;
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly; and
  • Bend, stretch, reach overhead, twist, and move, as needed, to maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Operations Manager:

Cavalier Produce, a growing provider of produce and food service items to restaurants and institutions in Virginia, is seeking an Operations Manager who has the skills, knowledge, and determination to ensure our continued success.

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for directing all activities in the facility necessary to operate and support a warehouse at maximum efficiency. You will perform a variety of management, administrative, and leadership functions to ensure the timely and accurate receiving, storage, and delivery of products. You will also collaboratively work with the team and staff to ensure that operational efficiency, safety, and controls are maintained within the warehouse. As a growing enterprise will need to look to continually improve processes and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and possess a background in an active, 24 hour warehouse operation. They will have outstanding leadership skills and be able to work effectively through their department heads.

Requirement:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Have five plus years of successful warehouse operations experience.
  • Have two plus years of experience as a successful assistant operations manager or operations manager.
  • Foodservice industry experience is a plus.
  • Possess a proven track record of process improvement with a growing company.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems independently and with sound judgement.
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities under stress of deadlines.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to manage time and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • The ability to handled detailed information is a consistent, timely, and reliable manner.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Proficiency with inventory management and related software.
  • OSHA certification for forklift and other warehouse machinery use.
  • Ability and willingness to regularly work Saturdays and Sunday on rotating basis.
  • Possess the ability to stand for four or more hours at a time on hard surfaces and in cold temperature.
  • Regularly manipulate items with arms, wrists, and hands for up to four hours at a time while operating machinery, organizing and packing products, keeping house, and other related tasks.
  • Be able to climb ladders on a regular basis with ease.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Bend, stretch, reach overhead, twist, and move, as needed, to maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds.
